South Africa’s first black president and anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela has died, South Africa’s president says. Former South African of resident Nelson Mandela died on Thursday at the age of 95. Mr. Mandela, 95, led South Africa’s transition from white-minority rule in the 1990s, after 27 years in prison. Mandela, the first black and post apartheid President of South Africa, died in his home in Johannesburg, according to South African President Jacob Zuma, who announced the late anti-apartheid hero’s death. Mandela was discharged from a Pretoria hospital in September after spending seven months in the long hospital, where he was admitted for long infection. Along with grief, anger will be the dominant emotion when Professor Festus Iyayi is buried this week in his hometown, Ugbegun in Edo State. The two feelings have mixed, predictably with unsavoury outcomes, since the former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, died on 12 November in an auto accident on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway.
