WOMEN ARE MORE PRONE TO EBOLA

Recent statistical analysis comparing the ratio of sex prone to the dreaded EVD has shown that women are more "ebolarize" than the men. This is not only deduce medically but also logically. Although, both men and women are being hit by the disease, but the difference in who is getting the brunt of this outbreak is staggering. According to UNICEF, women account for 55 to 60 per cent of the 1,552 deaths from Ebola in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since May. However, reports say that health teams on the ground in Liberia report much higher numbers with women making up 75 per cent of the people who have been infected. Some are pointing to women’s penchant for nurturing as the main factor behind the disparity. Ebola is transmitted through direct contact with an infected person’s blood, tissues and bodily fluids. It is not airborne. This, when coupled with the fact that women make up the majority of caregivers, is huge reason why the disease has hit females the hardest. E

TEENAGER BURNT FOR BEDWETTING

One Mrs Roseline Uzoamaka has been arrested by the Dutsen Alhaji Police Division of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, for brutalising her 14-year-old relative, Sarah (her sister-in-law). According to reports, Uzoamaka forced the teenager to sit on a burning electric cooker until the girl sustained severe burns in her private parts as a punishment for urinating on the bed last Saturday, August 23, at the family’s residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja. In her statement to the police, Uzoamaka confessed that she did this because some friends had advised her that the way to make her bedwetting sister-in-law recover from the problem was to make her sit on a hot stove. After the girl’s private part was affected by the heat, she was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment the same day – where she’s still recuperating.
